Boyd delivers injury update ahead of Saints' clash with Worcester

The South African No.8 has not played since the 13-12 victory at Exeter Chiefs last month due to a knee problem.

But Adendorff, who had scored four tries in three games before being sidelined, underwent surgery and is now closing in on a comeback.

"He's potentially available for selection this week, he's not that far away," Boyd said.

"He's come back from his knee surgery well."

However, Lewis Ludlam will remain sidelined due to the concussion he sustained against Sale Sharks earlier this month.

"He won't be around for a little while," Boyd said.

The same goes for Owen Franks who had surgery on a foot injury last month.

Boyd said: "He's in cotton wool for a period of time."

Franks is on the long-term injury list alongside Courtney Lawes (pectoral) and Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi (Achilles).

"Courtney is still a long way off," Boyd said.

"He joins the long-termers like Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi and Owen Franks.

"We won't see Courtney for a while."

Saints have a doubt over Matt Proctor, who was forced off after aggravating his calf issue against Bristol Bears last Sunday.

"It was a small re-aggravation of his calf and we'll wait and see how he goes," Boyd said.

But Saints are able to welcome back three international players, with Dan Biggar, David Ribbans and Alex Mitchell having concluded their Six Nations duties.

"Dan's obviously played a lot for Wales and been pivotal for them so he's slightly different to Dave Ribbans and Alex Mitchell, who have been in the England squad and not made the teamsheet," Boyd said.

"Dan's had a lot of football but keen to get going again.

"As for the other two, Alex Mitchell hasn't played for six or seven weeks so he may well be a little bit rusty."
