‘Question everything’ – Anthony Horowitz thriller hits Rugby Theatre
A psychological thriller highlighting the thin line between fiction and reality can be seen at Rugby Theatre this week.
Mindgame is set in a secluded asylum for the criminally insane, where journalist Mark Styler arrives hoping to interview a notorious serial killer for his next book. But nothing, and no one, is quite what they seem. As tension mounts, the lines between sanity and madness blur in a chilling game of cat and mouse, keeping audiences guessing right up to the final moment.

Director Ash Hirons said: “I was looking for a psychological thriller, and as soon as I read the play I knew it was exactly what I wanted.
"There are lots of twists and some dark humour to lighten the mood – a perfect blend.”
Written by acclaimed author Anthony Horowitz, Mindgame’s razor-sharp dialogue is brought to life by Rugby Theatre’s talented performers, with the institution room set design contributing to the haunting and disorientating atmosphere.
Ash added: “Mindgame is a journey into perception and reality, laced with humour, that toys with the audience right up to the end of the play. Be prepared to question everything you think you know.”
Horowitz is one of Britain’s most popular and most prolific writers. He has written 76 books including James Bond and Sherlock Holmes novels. His teen series Alex Rider is a phenomenon, with 19 million copies sold worldwide, in 33 different countries, and now adapted for Amazon. He has also written 14 TV series including Foyle’s War and Midsomer Murders. He created the recent BBC One series Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, and his books Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders have also become TV hits in recent years.
Rugby Theatre’s production of Mindgame was originally scheduled for May 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic. It is dedicated to the memory of the late Mark Baird, who was in the cast at the time.
Mindgame runs until Saturday November 29. Call 01788 541234 or visit www.rugbytheatre.co.uk to book.
