Batting star Chris Lynn named in Steelbacks squad for Finals Day

Chris Lynn has been named in the Northants Steelbacks squad for Finals Day at Edgbaston on Saturday.

The Australian had to retire hurt while batting in Wednesday night's quarter-final win over Gloucestershire at the cinch County Ground, after being hit on the foot by a Duan Jansen yorker.

There were concerns that the 36-year-old may have suffered serious damage and been ruled out for Saturday's semi-final against Somerset (start 11am), but he has travelled with the Steelbacks.

He was part of an unchanged 15-man squad that travelled to Birmingham on Friday, and had a training session at Edgbaston.

Lynn is the Steelbacks' leading scorer in this year's competition, having scored two centuries and two fifties, and it will be a huge boost if he is able to play.

The right-hander became the first player to score a hundred on Finals Day last season when he powered Hampshire Hawks to a semi-final win over Northants.

If Lynn is fit, then Northants, who won the Central & West Group, are likely to name the same side that played in midweek.

Somerset have also named a 15-man squad, which includes current England international Tom Banton, who has been released from the squad currently taking on India in an ODI series.

The Cidermen will be without Lewis Goldsworthy (concussion) and Tom Lammonby (elbow), but can still include the likes of Thomas Rew, James Rew, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Tom Abell, Lewis Gregory, Jack Leach and their quarter-final match winner Craig Overton.
