Ghostly apparitions from soldiers who perished in the Battle of Naseby, despairing sounds of a crying infant, spirits of victims who were mercilessly murdered: these are all occurrences that have reportedly been witnessed at destinations across Northamptonshire.
Embark on a ghost hunt in one of these locations… if you dare.
9. Delapre Abbey
A former monastery in the 12th century, there have been reports of ghostly sightings of nuns and soldiers, potentially from the Battle of Northampton, which took place during the War of the Roses.
10. The Wig and Pen
The entity in the basement rarely manifests on the upper levels, and is happy scaring any dogs that try to enter its domain.
11. The Royal Theatre
There is allegedly a ghost, known as The Grey Lady, who occupies Box B in the Royal. Theatre staff describe her as “friendly”, “fond of children” and “very protective of the Royal.” Other ghosts include a former worker at the Royal called Tom Robinson and a more hostile spirit who haunts the dingy rooms beneath the stage and is said to hate women.
