Northants Steelbacks hero Richard Levi is targeting a home quarter-final in the NatWest T20 Blast after his superb 67 blew Leicestershire Foxes away.

Levi compiled the total in just 28 balls as the Steelbacks superbly hunted down the Foxes’ 111 for four with nine balls to spare.

The rain-affected game was reduced to 10 overs per side and Grant Elliott looked to have put the Foxes in a winning position with 56 from 29 deliveries.

But Levi was to steal the spotlight, starring alongside Josh Cobb and Ben Duckett as the Steelbacks claimed a stunning success.

David Ripley’s men are now firmly ensconced in the North Group top four with three matches remaining.

And Levi said: “I have not really come off and won the game outright this season but today I hit the ball well and where I wanted to hit it.

“A 10-over game gives you the freedom to go after the ball.

“The second over gave us momentum and set up the game beautifully.

“I’ve got a few 30s and 40s but haven’t got one to blow a team away with so it was good to get one of those today and I’m slowly working out the recipe.

“It’s a big thing to get a quarter-final (place), we’re gaining momentum and if win win our final few games we should get that and maybe even a home tie.”
