A driver has been reported after he was spotted filming a collision on the M1 in Northamptonshire.

The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday (October 24) just after junction 18 on the M1 southbound carriageway.

A van collided with a lorry and the van driver sustained injuries, although they are thankfully not life threatening or life changing.

A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “This happened just after 1.30am when a van collided with a lorry just after junction 18 on the M1 southbound.

“The van driver sustained injuries which required medical treatment but thankfully no one suffered any life threatening or life changing injuries.

“While the incident was happening, a the driver of a white car passed and was spotted filming the incident so he has been reported for driving whilst using a mobile phone.”

The section of the road between junction 17 and 18 was closed for around two hours, causing delays on the motorway. The road reopened just before 4am.
