Youngsters at the Southbrook Community Association Happy Faces Day Care holiday scheme have been interested to follow the team’s progress, watching events throughout the day, keeping a score chart of GB’s medals and will be holding their own mini Olympics during this week.

The children are also recording the 2016 games for posterity by marking their hand prints on their own Olympic flag.

Emma Barnsley, one of the managers at Happy Faces, said: “Daventry district councillor Alan Hills visited the centre on Monday and spoke to the children about their favourite events and sports persons and he himself was interviewed by our resident commentator Jake.

“The holiday play scheme has over 70 different children aged 3 years to 14 years registered to attend throughout the summer holiday period and activities include pool, football, air hockey, badminton, table tennis, arts and crafts, game consoles, music, water play, pirate’s cove, pampering workshops, a lovely sensory outdoor environment to explore and much, much more.”

Happy Faces Day Care is based at the Community Centre in Hood Road on the Southbrook in Daventry.
