Meeting to discuss problems on Daventry estate

In recent months the estate has suffered from incidents of antisocial behaviour, trouble on the Fish Ponds field, motorbikes being ridden on footpaths, tyres being slashed, and rubbish being dumped.

Up to 10 vehicles had their tyres slashed on the estate in recent days, and repair garages report having vehicles coming in from the estate with slashed tyres for the past two weeks.

Sharon Moore who runs the estate’s Facebook group said: “Residents have had enough now and through the Facebook page have asked for a meeting, to meet with all the different services.

“People are blaming empty garages, dog poo and dogs on the loose, not enough police around, the youths are saying they have no where just to meet up/ hang out with about getting into trouble, bikers are wanting some where just to go and do a bit of dirt riding.

“Not all youths want to do swimming, athletics, football, rugby. When is the new play equipment going to be done, all promises but no action is what they are saying.”

The meeting takes place on Wednesday July 13 at 7pm at the Southbrook Community Centre in Hood Road.

Residents from the estate are invited along, as have representatives from the town and district council, as well as police.
