Discus thrower from Daventry gets bronze in national competition

An athlete from Daventry has won a bronze medal in a national championships.

Niklas Aarre from Daventry (formerly William Parker School and Guilsborough Academy) managed to get bronze in discus for the second year running with a new lifetime best of 45.27 (2kg) at the British Universities National Championship in Athletics held Bedford.

Niklas is studying for a BA in Aating at Bath Spa University and is currently in his second year.

He is also competing for premier division club Birchfield Harriers of Birmingham.

Next on the agenda is the British Athletics League meeting in Eton next weekend before county championship at Corby on May 14 and the U23 National Championship in June where he hopes to add another medal to his tally.
