A TRIO of classic plays are to be staged by the Royal and Derngate in Northampton.
Three new versions of the classics will form a Festival of Chaos trilogy at the theatre.
Euripides’ The Bacchae will be coming to the printing press rooms of our sister publication The Northampton Chronicle and Echo. It tells the tale of money and greed in the heart of a modern city.
The same company will be performing a new adaptation of Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia Lorca which is about a feud between two warring households in rural Spain.
The trilogy is finished off by a retelling of Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler about a woman consumed by a burning desire to get away from the boredom of her comfortable existence.
The Bacchae is now running while Blood Wedding opens tomorrow (Friday) with various dates. Hedda Gabler will run from July 6 to 28.
Tickets for The Bacchae, Blood Wedding and Hedda Gabler can be booked by calling the box office on 01604 624811 or visit www.royalandderngate.co.uk.
