Renowned theatrical innovators Gonzo Moose are on their way to Banbury with their brand new sci-fi comedy adventure Great Scott!
The show, which comes to The Mill Arts Centre as part of a UK wide tour, is based on Captain Scott’s Antarctica expedition in 1912.
However that is where the conventional tale ends and a much more radical and untrue take on the story comes together.
Rather than the following the story of Captain Scott and his men died in a snow storm during their brave attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole, it ponders whether Captain Scott actually perished saving the world from aliens.
Great Scott! is played out on a dramatic, desolate landscape of snow and glaciers, featuring frozen beards, giant penguins and, of course, aliens.
Gonzo Moose artistic director Mark Dawson said: “Expect Scott of the Antarctic meets The X-Files with puppetry, knock-about comedy and some truly explosive conspiracy theories.”
Gonzo Moose has been described by The Stage as “an exuberant mash-up of improvisation, physical theatre, slapstick and satire”.
Great Scott is another epic, anarchic comedy from the company that brought you What The Dickens, Grimm And Grimmer and I’m An Aristocrat, Get Me Out Of Here. Great Scott! is sure to be their most mind-boggling adventure yet.
Gonzo Moose is a popular stage comedy company, renowned for its accessible brand of improvisation, music, physical theatre and clowning.
The show takes place on Thursday May 26 and starts at 7.30pm.
