Society to mark American independence at concert

Daventry Choral Society is to mark Independence Day in America with its summer concert.

The group performs at the iCon Centre in Daventry on Saturday starting at 7.30pm called Stars and Stripes.

The programme includes Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Barber’s Agnus Dei.

There is also music from Copland, Morton Lauridson and Eric Whitacre.

Among the performers with the society are counter tenor Tom Williams and organist Adrian Moore.

The harp is to be played by Stephanie Beck with Tony Ayres and Eddie Hackett playing percussion.

The concert is to be directed by Nicholas Scott-Burt

The concert is also coming under the banner of Daventry Arts Festival which starts on the same day of the concert.

It will see a wide variety of performances, exhibitions and workshop designed for the local community to be held for the next three weeks.
