ONE of the Bard’s best known works comes to the stage at Northampton.
The action has been relocated to Edwardian England which sees the love lives of two respectable gentlemen come into conflict over a girl.
A warning to anyone coming to see this show, it is not for the the faint-hearted as anything you could imagine happens in it, does.
The show takes Shakesperare’s original text, leaving the actors to add a huge element of physicality to their performances which adds to the humour of the piece.
However the elements that worked for me were the Edwardian characters and the farcical situation as suitors chased after their wives. This was even embodied in the set which was perfect for a fast-paced comedy.
If you like very quirky, unique and different productions then you will undoubtedly find this entertaining and funny. But it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.
