Punk band hits Woodford

A DAVENTRY band will be performing live at a football club at the weekend in an event designed to appeal for the whole family.

The four-piece band So’77 will perform at Woodford United Football Club from 3pm on Sunday.

The band is made up of Nigel Lewis on vocals, Simon Lockyer on bass and vocals, Phil Beech on guitar and Neil Goulsbra on the drums.

They cover the punk/new wave era of music from the late 1970s and early 1980s and play covers of bands including The Sex Pistols, The Buzzcocks, The Undertones and The Jam.

There will be the Bethal Cup Final played prior to the gig which kicks off at noon.

For the children, a play area will enable youngsters to bounce up and down all day long.

Last year was a landmark for the band, who supported The Sex Pistols Experience and Bruce Foxton’s From The Jam. Another gig with the latter has been lined up for this year while the band also organised a mini beer festival in Daventry,
