There was plenty of live music and a lot of joy when the first Daventry Rewind event was held over the bank holiday weekend.

The event saw a day of live music and entertainment dedicated to the Britpop era of the 1990s to encourage more peopl in their 30s and 40s to have a night out in the town.

It was the brainchild of Mark Rasbuary, a former resident of the town who still has close ties to the area.

He said the idea was based on the Henley Rewind, a 1980s music festival held in Oxfordshire every year.

Several pubs and bars supported the event by organising entertainment and putting on special offers on drinks. Fridays and the Dun Cow had DJs playing music from the 1990s while there was a live band will be playing at The Plume of Feathers from 7pm to 9pm.

Chasers also booked a saxophonist to accompany a special guest DJ. Mark said: “The town was mobbed with lots of friendly and familiar faces and the day was generally hailed as a success by all those that attended.

“The bars did us proud and the maintained the 90s’ theme throughout the night, which was great.

“We will be looking to do the same thing again next year, with hopefully some live music on in the afternoon in some of the beer gardens.”
