A musical group will perform in Canons Ashby next week.
On Friday, June 13 Fiori’s players will be performing alongside soprano Judit Felszeghy, presenting music from the time of Handel. In the programme will be brilliant music for recorders, violin, cello and harpsichord by favourite composer GF Handel and some of his musical colleagues.
The concert is part of a link up the group has with the stately home. Its founder Penelope Rapson said: “We’re delighted to team up with the National Trust at Canons Ashby. There is a lot of synergy between what Fiori do and what Laura Malpas of the National Trust is doing at Canons Ashby.
“The historic authenticity of Canons Ashby (this superb Elizabethan Manor House has remained largely unchanged since 1710) means that it lends itself perfectly to Fiori ideals, which are all about presenting historically-informed live music concerts.
“We are really delighted to be part of the Canons Ashby experience and to have a residency here” .
Fiori, based in Preston Capes, have been giving concerts in and around the region since 1983, bringing top-class international musicians to this part of the world. As part of their residency at Canons Ashby, Fiori Musicali are already enjoying regular rehearsals at the property with their “Fiori Village Choir” – a ‘training’choir drawn from people in the locality, and open to all with an interest in singing.
The concert begins at 7.30pm. Visitors can enjoy a picnic in the gardens with Pimms from 6pm (garden entry included). Tickets cost £15 and £20 with picnic and Pimms costing £12. To book visit www.fiori-musicali.com or call 01327 360931.
Fiori will be back at the Priory Church with full Choral Evensong presided over by the Bishop of Brixworth, and renaissance choral music from the Fiori Musicali Choir.
Evensong starts at 5pm and entry is free.
