Prankster turned stand-up Simon Brodkin announces Northampton date

He’s the comedian who showered FIFA president Sepp Blatter with cash, handed Prime Minister Theresa May her P45, and created the smash-hit BBC comedy series Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show.

And now, since pivoting to solo stand-up in 2019, Simon Brodkin is continuing his run of shows – with a new date announced for Northampton.

The tour is called Unleashed, and Simon promises to “rip into broken Britain, the American Dream, religion, marriage, Genghis Khan, vape shops and wild swimmers”.

Brodkin said: “I can’t wait – the timing feels perfect. I’ve not toured for two years so I’ve got a lot to say and my teenage kids no longer find me funny.”

Described by The Times as a “prodigious talent,” Brodkin’s last tour, Screwed Up, was extended four times due to strong demand, and ran for 170 dates around the world, culminating in three sold out nights at London’s Hammersmith Apollo as well as a headline-grabbing appearance at the Royal Variety Performance in front of a giggling Prince and Princess of Wales.

Brodkin is also proving a major hit online with his stand-up clips, averaging in excess of 50 million views across social media every month. He has more than a million followers on Facebook and more than four million followers across all platforms, making him one of Britain’s most followed comedians.

Screwed Up became the most viewed UK special to premiere on YouTube, with The Times declaring “no show has made me laugh more”, and the Mail on Sunday describing it as a “full-on rat-a-tat gag fest”.

Brodkin first rose to fame with his outrageous characters which became household names in the UK, including Lee Nelson and superstar footballer Jason Bent. Brodkin wrote and starred in three hugely popular BBC series of Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show and Well Funny People. Further TV appearances include Live at the Apollo (BBC), Sunday Night at the Palladium (ITV), The John Bishop Christmas Show (BBC) and Children In Need (BBC).

In addition to his stunts on Blatter and Mat, Brodkin – as Lee Nelson – joined Kanye West on stage at Glastonbury Festival and ambushed President Donald Trump on his golf course by surrounding him with ‘creatively decorated’ golf balls.

Brodkin comes to the Royal & Derngate on February 19, 2027. Visit royalandderngate.co.uk or call 01604 624811 to book.
