Music festival fun

A three day music festival is one of the highlights as part of Daventry Arts Festival.

The Hat and the Hair have organised the event taking place at Casey’s Beer Garden running from Friday June 24 to Saturday June 26.

There will be more than 20 local bands and artists showcasing the very best of musical talent in the local area.

Headliners on the Saturday night are Mammoth as a local band formed in 2014 at The Hat and The Hair open mic night.

They play a diverse mix of rock covers; lead singer Nik Aspey unleashes the energy of a raging bull during his performances.

Also playing will be local band Dead Frequency and frontman Matti Fantasi is excited to be playing in his hometown.

They are a high energy Glam Punk band and describe themselves as a cross between the showmanship of Van Halen mixed with the sound of Green Day.

It is one of the last shows that the group will record before they head into the studio to record the follow up to the debut EP Desire for Fire.

The festival’s first day sees live music from Tone Deaf and The Doors are Locked.

Attention Citizens and The Young Restiess are among the other acts on the first night which runs from 7pm tp 11pm.

Supporting Mammoth on the Saturday night is The Bombadiers, Jordan Herbert, Jasmine Burns, Jacklines, Pete & Del as well as J-Script.

Sunday sees The Original Members, On Table 29, Joe Boyle, Fall from Glory and The Over the Hill Gang in addition to Dead Frequency.

Music on both Saturday and Sunday runs from noon to 11pm.

Warming up to the event, the eccentric pair The Hat and the Hair will be appearing on the Sheaf Street Stage during the day every day from Saturday June 18.

They will also be visiting three different pubs on the following Wednesday and Thursday nights with a Travelling Tea Party with a variety of quirky costumes and fellow musicians in town. They can be seen at Daventry Conservative Club, Chasers, The Dun Cow, Fridays, Wetherspoons and The George on Wednesday June 22 and Thursday June 23.

Benson Fox from The Hat and the Hair said: “We’ll be parading around the town in our most eccentric attire instruments in hand. Why not join us for this one time opportunity to really show people what Daventry’s made of.”

The Daventry Arts Festival runs from Saturday June 18 to Sunday June 26. There is a variety of entertainment at various locations across the town.
