Arts, Crafts and Collectables exhibition, now-August 24
Alongside historical pieces in the museum collection, such as the handmade
Daventry May Queen Crown, exhibits include beautifully crafted ceramics by
Charlotte Hupfield and works by landscape artist Ralph Davies will be displaying a selection of his oil paintings, featuring scenes from the local area. Collectables will also feature in the exhibition including vinyl records and pocket watches. This event is runing as part of Daventry Arts Festival
Guys and Dolls, Rugby Theatre, now to June 16
This romantic musical comedy features the high rolling gambler and puritanical missionary, a showgirl dreaming of the straight and narrow and a card game manager.
Matilda the Musical, Milton Keynes Theatre, now-June-30
The award winning musical produced by the RSC comes out on tour for the first time and visits Milton Keynes. It is the story of an extraordinary little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
The Reluctant Dragon, Daventry Leisure Centre
Munchkins and Monsters will present this tale of a friendly and kind-hearted dragon, who is nothing like the fire breathing beasts you might have heard of before! One day, the dragon meets a young girl and strikes up an unlikely friendship. When word of the dragon reaches the King, he sends his best Knights to rid the land of the creature. Will the Knights succeed or will the girl and the dragon be able to convince the Kingdom that there is more to the dragon than meets the eye? Performances take place at 11am and 1pm. Places are free but must be booked in advance.
Mini Fringe Festival, various locations around Daventry, June 16
There will be acoustic and folk at Early Doors Pub, to rock and covers at The Saracens Head. There will be live music at Chasers Bar until the early hours as well as an evening at Holy Cross Church.
Exhibitions at Daventry Library, June 16-24
Daventry Photographic Society will be showcasing the collection of photographs sent in as part of their photographic competition. Also The Grid Studios present the work of painters, sculptors, ceramicists, printmakers, furniture restorers and mixed media artist.
Matthew Martin & the Choir of Keble College Oxford, Holdenby Church, June 16
The work of Handel, Tallis and Holst will be performed at this special concert. Tickets cost £10 for the concert only or £20 for the concert and reception.
Teletubbies, Royal & Derngate, Northampton, June 16-17
Featuring full-sized Teletubbies characters, bright colours, puppetry, movement, songs and actions, Teletubbies Live is the perfect show for introducing young children to the fun and magic of theatre.
Cycle Tour, Daventry Country Park, June 17
Taking you on a historical ride of Daventry’s past, you’ll learn a lot whilst burning calories. The tour will end with a wonderful picnic in Daventry’s Country Park. It is hosted by historian Mike Arnold.
Alternative Art Exhibition, The Foundry Cafe, Daventry, June 20
This alternative Art Exhibition will feature never before seen artwork from the local tattoo artists at Nevermore Tattoo Studio. A combination of art and photographs and it has been designed for people aged 18 and over. This, Munchkins and Monsters, the exhibitions and the cycle tour are part of Daventry Arts Festival.
