THE agonising wait for that first point of the season goes on for luckless Woodford United.
Pete Smith’s men looked to have secured that point at Barton Rovers on Tuesday night, but the home side scored an 89th-minute winner to break Woodford’s hearts.
The disappointment at Barton followed on from Saturday’s home clash with Northwood at Byfield Road, where The Reds were beaten 5-0.
Woodford, who remain rooted to the bottom of the Evo-Stik League Division One Central table, travel to Fleet Town on Saturday.
Woodford will again sense this match could be an opportunity for them to break their duck, as Fleet currently sit fifth from bottom.
The home side go into tomorrow’s game on the back of four straight defeats, and have claimed just three points from the past 18 available to them.
When the sides met at Byfield Road back in October, Fleet were 2-0 winners thanks to two second-half goals.
