Villagers battle on to an eight-wicket victory

AN undefeated knock of 85 from Darren Harrison helped East Haddon Firsts to an eight-wicket victory against Rothwell Town Firsts in Division Two.

Haddon’s Craig Burger (29) added his useful contribution to set the villagers on their way to a comfortable win.

Robbie Povey (five-28) and Stephan Joubert (four-43) gave good accounts of themselves among the Haddon bowlers.

In the same division, Overstone Park Firsts battled their way to a winning draw against Long Buckby Firsts.

Sam Bold (58), Sam Bigley (55) and Matthew Sunter (32) were best batting for the home side.

In Division Three Great Houghton Firsts gained a winning draw in their match against Heyford Firsts.

Highlights of the game were an impressive batting total of 91from Heyford’s Matthew Baker and Charles Hart’s bowling figures of four-40 for Great Houghton.

West Haddon Firsts earned a winning home draw against Raunds Town Firsts.

The conditions seemed to favour batsmen with Leslie Brown (57), Neil Humphrey (55) and Phil Perryman (53) shining for Haddon.

Oli Buckley (62), Jason Lovell (48), Adam Lack (47) and Nigel Ogden (24) added useful contributions for the away side.

Bowling plaudits went to Haddon’s James Higgs (four-73) and Oli Buckley (four-42) for Raunds.

An impressive innings of 84 from Badby’s Andy Humphries and additional contributions from Stuart Bonthuys (35) and Ceri Roberts (34) steered Badby Firsts to a 35-run victory against St Crispin and Ryelands Seconds in Division Five.

Paul Cooper returned bowling figures of four-41 for Badby and Daniel Cooper (five-45) for the home side.

In Division Six Cogenhoe Firsts beat Ashby Timken Firsts by eight wickets – thanks largely to an undefeated knock from Cogenhoe’s Daniel Mclaughlin (90 n.o.) and Ashley Davis (38 n.o.).

In the same division, Stony Stratford Thirds beat Kislingbury Temperance Firsts by three wickets.

Yelvertoft Firsts also beat Weekley and Warkton Seconds by three wickets.

Yelvertoft’s Andrew O’Neill (59), Will Negus (51), James Martin (47 n.o.) added useful totals.

St Michaels 74 (Bugbrooke) Firsts snatched a narrow 15-run win over Loddington and Mawsley Seconds in a low-scoring encounter.

St Michaels’ Chris Earl (five-11) and Steven Spruels (four-39) returned impressive bowling figures.

In Division Nine Bowden CC Seconds beat St Michaels, Northants Firsts by three wickets.

Geoff Lambert (48), Charlie Elderton (45) and Malcolm Swann (21) were best batting for St Michaels while Alex Frith scored his first 50 for Bowden finishing on 92 not out supported by Ali Williams scoring 38.

Fourteen-year-old Sam Noble took his first wicket for Bowden and finished with figures of five-39.
