BARBY and Rugby tied in the semi-final of the midweek league cup. Both teams finished on 151-two but Rugby won by scoring more runs off the bat.
Barby batted first and Paul Henderson 58 n.o. supported by Tom Gleghorn 44 were the mainstay of the innings.
Ed Pell was the pick of the Rugby bowlers with one-16.
In reply, Rugby got off to a slow start and the run-rate quickly got up to over 10 with Will Sinclair one-12.
But George Mackenzie 54, Charlie Robards 54 n.o. and Dave Mackenzie 18 n.o. – who hit the last ball of the match for six to tie the match – saw Rugby home in a thrilling finish.
Barby spilled several chances to take wickets which would have seen them in the final.
