The Samoan scrum-half played the first 40 minutes for the Wanderers in their 38-14 win against Sale Jets on Monday night.

Fotuali’i, who hadn’t played since pulling his hamstring in the New Year’s Day win against Exeter Chiefs, was on the scoresheet against the Jets.

And Mallinder said: “It’s really good to see him back.

“He’s been frustrated being injured - he’s one of the worst people when he’s not playing and training.

“You can see that on Monday he was full of life, full of vigour and we’re pleased that he’s back fit again.

“It’s good to have in your personality that he really just enjoys having a rugby ball in his hands.

“He’s very good in the gym, but he likes to get out, train and particularly playing matches.”
