Premiership Rugby delivered some good news on Wednesday as it was revealed that no players have tested positive for Covid-19 this week.

One member of staff at an unnamed club did register a positive test, but the fact that was the only case comes as a huge boost for the league on the eve of its return.

Positive tests have now fallen for four successive weeks, going from 33 to just one in that time.

Premiership Rugby has also confirmed the move to twice-weekly testing from this week.

The second set of testing this week will take place today with the results planned to be announced on Friday.

Saints are due to return to action - their first game since Boxing Day - when they travel to Gloucester on Saturday.
