Daventry Under-16s hosted local rivals Long Buckby in an early season fixture and ran out easy 43-5 winners.
Dav had had a difficult week and knew they would need to dig deep in their character.
They played with purpose and determination.
The Daventry forwards were very organised at the breakdown and cleared out exceptionally well, providing plenty of ball for the free running back line, who were quick to spot weakness in the Buckby defence.
Daventry found their rhythm and began to play some great rugby and applied pressure continually to Buckby. They ran out comfortable winners.
The squad dedicated the victory to Richard Holland.
Man of the match was Lewis Print who is beginning to shine as a star in the squad, while Joe Pursey is finding his old form once more with some great tackles.
The squad have Bedford in the cup at home this Sunday (ko 11am).
Daventry Under 15’s visited Newbold in a friendly fixture on a very wet windy morning.
Despite the conditions both teams played good running rugby with Daventry running out winners in a very entertaining Game.
After two weeks of good training, Daventry under-nines tested themselves with training game against the under-10s.
A really encouraging morning saw the boys score five tries and only concede three against a team who has played contact for a year.
The tackling from Jack was outstanding, Corbon and Ewan showed great running ability, Isaac showed some good hands, Will and Charlie tackled and carried well, Liam showed great pace in scoring and new boy Max was everywhere in defence.
The boys will look to take this in to training next Sunday.
With bags of enthusiasm, spirit and skill, the coming season promises to be an exciting one. Want to be part of this? Interested in starting rugby? Want to try it? Daventry are looking for new players to join them. Training on Sunday starts at 10am.
