Andrews at the double as Buzzard are beaten

Daventry Under-16s proved far too strong for Leighton Buzzard as they stormed to a 64-15 victory in this friendly on Sunday.

Buzzard turned up with only 10 players, so Daventry loaned them three to ensure a 13-a-side fixture went ahead.

It was clear within the first 10 minutes that the skill and pace of Daventry team was going to test the Buzzard defence. Once warmed up, backs and forwards combined well to produce some good phases of play and the score board began to tick over.

Richard Andrews made some good early breaks and he went on to cap his performance with two well taken tries.

The competition up front was physical and the Buzzard front five played well throughout the game.

Daventry’s forwards worked hard for the whole game and all of them showed themselves well in the loose with tries for Jonathan Galliford, Hugo Rogers, Luke Barnwell and Matt Brighty.

The backs looked dangerous at times with Joe Green, Fin Wilde, Charlie Rooney and Steve Watters scoring tries. Will Bennett enjoyed touching down when playing for Buzzard after showing Joe Green a clean set of heels! Well done to Archie, Steve, Luke, Will, Niall, Tom, Fin and Joe who all spent part of the match in a Buzzard shirt.
