Finedon see off Kislingbury to all but secure fifth straight NCL Premier Division title

The reigning champions were five wicket winners at Kislingbury Temperance on Saturday, meaning they will go into the last match of the season with a 22-point advantage over second-placed Geddington.

A single bonus point against ONs mathematically guarantees yet another title success, regardless of Geddington's result.

They were made to work for their success at Kislingbury after Harry Penberthy hit 100 and Ashley Starmer 67 to steer the home side to 264 all out in 50 overs.

Mark Wolstenholme starred the ball, taking five for 47, while Jack Fuller claimed three for 46.

The chase could have been tricky for Finedon, but they made it look easy as Ewan Cox hit 74 and Sanjay Patel 85 to see their side to 267 for five with more than six overs to spare.

Geddington did their bit to try and keep the title chase alive as they beat Rushden & Higham Town by six wickets in a low-scoring affair.

Jack Parker claimed four for 31 and Theo Marshall three for 27 as Rushden were rolled over for just 84, and then Keshav Sthanakiya hit 42 to lead the villagers to 87 for four despite three late consolation wickets for Chana Ruwansiri (3-23).

Stony Stratford stay third, three points behind Geddington, after they cruised to an eight-wicket home win over Loddington & Mawsley.

In division one, Wellingborough Town sealed the title and promotion with their six-wicket win over Desborough Town.

Thomas Howes snared four 15 and Jack Pinnock three for 43 as Desborough were bowled out for 153, with Jehu Anderson then smacking 85 from just 65 balls to see Borough home at 154 for four in just 24.1 overs.

The win means Borough can't be caught, but the race for second place is very much on.

Wollaston currently occupy that position, but they are just three points clear of Horton House, with both sides winning last weekend.

Wollaston squeezed past Barby by two wickets - recovering from 47 for seven to reach 128 for eight and victory - with Horton thumping hosts Thrapston by 65 runs.

This Saturday, Wollaston can secure the runners-up spot with a win at home against mid-table Peterborough Town IIs, while Horton will be waiting to take advantage of any slip as they host fourth-placed Burton Latimer.
