New manager Mark Kinsella met the Daventry Town players and held his first training session at Communications Park on Thursday (For full story see the Daventry Express next week).
The former Republic of Ireland international said he sympathised with outgoing manager Ady Fuller’s predicament as he himself was shown the door at Charlton Athletic when the manager got the sack in January.
The Sutton Coldfield-based Kinsella said he hoped to hold on to many of the players who took the Town to the SL Central Division play-offs final against Hitchin last season.
He does though have a number of young players lined up with Football League or Conference League experience and is mindful that promotion is the target in his first season at the helm.
As his number two Kinsella has brought in Andy Reece (from Coleshill) who started his playing career in Non-League football with Worcester City and Stafford Rangers but also played for Bristol Rovers, Hereford United and Walsall.
