New Saints coach King can’t wait to work with Myler

King will take up the role of Northampton backs coach on July 1 after leaving Heineken Cup runners-up Clermont Auvergne.

His signing was greeted with much excitement by the Saints faithful as the former Wasps and England No.10 has built a good reputation during his six years in France.

And King’s work with Myler, who recently won his first England cap, will be a source of plenty of interest in the coming campaign.

The 28-year-old fly-half has often come under fire for a perceived lack of flair, but will be first choice at the club next season, working closely with King to improve his game.

“I think Stephen’s a really good player,” said the incoming coach, who won five England caps during his playing career. “I’m really excited to work with him.

“Stephen and Dicko (Lee Dickson) have been fantastic for the club over the past few years and Kahn (Fotuali’i) coming in will really help those two develop their game and leadership skills for the club.

“I was also delighted to see Ben Foden back to his best on the England tour.

“It’s good going forward that the club has a good group of young English players, but then you’ve got some world class stardust around them.

“It’s not only a good combination for the team but for the club.”
