Fisher signed a deal at Saints last week following a trial period that saw him impress during the pre-season campaign.

He was thrown into the squad for the Aviva Premiership opener at Franklin’s Gardens, starting on the bench against the Cherry and Whites.

And the former London Irish man wasted no time in announcing himself to his new fans, putting the finishing touches to a fine team move to register on his competitive debut.

“We’ve always liked Jon Fisher and when we had the chance to sign him, we jumped at it,” said Saints boss Mallinder.

“He’s really impressed us at training and he’s fitted in really well. He’s very quiet, unassuming, but I think he’ll grow.

“We saw a really accomplished performance when he came on for that 20 minutes or so.”
