Weather woe tests cyclists

IT was third time lucky on Sunday for Leisure Lakes cyclist Vince Jenkins.

He added the Age Group Win in the Welsh 25-Mile Time trial Championship on Sunday to the National that he won two weeks ago.

Having stayed overnight on the edge of the Brecon Beacons for an early start the omens were not good.

The mist was low down over the Rhigos Mountain with the temperature below 10 degrees and lots of wind and rain.

“Normally on this course you have a super fast 16 miles to the turn, but today it was a really hard slog into a head wind,” said Vince.

He recorded 1.00.52 that was over a minute faster than his nearest challenger.

The Leisure Lakes man will now collect a Welsh Champions Cap and WCA Plaque at the Annual Welsh BAR Lunch later in the year.
