Vince is back in style

STARTING in his first open event since last April, Leisure Lakes rider Vince Jenkins returned to Wales on Sunday to defend his WCA 10-Mile Championship title he has won in his age category for the last two years.

Having opened the year in the prizes and going really well, the Leisure Lakes man picked up a bug that turned into a serious lung infection.

As a result he has been off the bike for the rest of the season.

Riding two successive midweek club evening 10s in the week for some speed training, Vince decided it was worth making the trip and clocked 24.13 to collect his third WCA Plaque.

“I lost at least 15 seconds or more when I messed up the start,” said Vince, “and even though it was hard work all the way round, it was nice to be back racing again.

“I hope to do a few more races, but it depends on my rate of recovery.”
