Tricky breeze makes for tough golf contest

DAVENTRY Golf Club staged the Nat–West Charity Cup Competition. Conditions were fair but a tricky breeze made club selection difficult and caught out many of the competitors.

Up and coming youngster Daniel Haynes made the most of the conditions carding a creditable 41 points.

This was an excellent score considering that more than half the field came home with fewer than 30 points.

Runner up with 38 points was Neil Tonks.

The Ladies’ Section fared little better with three quarters of the field on 30 points or fewer resulting in a Competition Standard Scratch of 74 against a par of 72.

Winner of the Ladies’ Section was lady vice-captain Mrs Sue Lewis with an excellent score of 40 points.

Runner-up on 34 point was lady captain Mrs Lynda Partis.
