HELLIDON Lakes Golf Club clinched the N.G.U Handicap league title at Whittlebury on Saturday.
Playing against previous winners of the competition Wellingborough, it looked like being a close affair when at nine holes everything was very close.
Opening pair Mick Canning and Simon Keyte came in all square and then Gary Caunt and Chris Harvey lost their match one down.
But the ever-reliable Mike Thomas and Shaun Start drew on their experience to win their match by five up.
The youthful pairing off Darren Welsh and Dan Harris turned a three down deficit into a three up win.
Captain Dick French and Roy Trim cruised home seven up and it was left to Paul Upfield and Clive Jennings to wrap up the victory winning three up in the ever-increasing rain.
Thanks were expressed to all supporters and caddies on the day.
