Squash club show impressive form

DAVENTRY Squash first team continued their impressive start to the league campaign away to Lings Firsts.

Captain David McQuillan who made his first appearance of the season won 3–0.

The next three games also ended in resounding victories for Daventry as Nick Murley, Ryan Spragg and Jon Groom all entered the fray and were all 3–0 winners.

Mitch Bates took centre stage at number one but unfortunately could not continue the rout and lost 3–0. Final score 15–3 to Daventry.

Next up for the first team are 2010-11 league Champions Kettering. Star Man Jon Groom.

Daventry Thirds were in action away at Market Harborough and tied the match 11 games each.

But as Market Harborough won more matches they won overall 14-11. It was a night of entertainment and high quality squash.

Simon Wallis lost 3-2 at number one, Pete Tiffen won at number two 3-2, despite a good start at number three captain Joe Bodenstein lost 3–2.

Mark Griffey lost his match 3–2. Finally Neil Aldersley had his first start of the season at number five and despite being two games down made a great comeback to win 3–2. Star Man Neil Aldersley.

Daventry fourth team continued their impressive start to the season.

Thirteen-year-old Ryan Swadling at number five began proceedings making his team debut and thrashed his opponent 9–1, 9–2 and 9–0.

Next up was Captain Gerry O Donnell who won 3–1.

Following this were comfortable 3-0 wins for Terry Welbourne and James Rodgers.

The only defeat of the night was Steve Wightman at number one who battled hard but could not prevent a 3–1 defeat. Star ‘Boy’ Ryan Swadling.
