Six-goal strike

DAVENTRY chalked up another win with their re-arranged game against Kettering on Sunday.

In the early stages Daventry put intense pressure on the Kettering goal with their keeper making several fine saves.

Then Mark Scoble played a one-two before Wez Pope beat two more players and flicked it into the corner of the goal.

Daventry had several more shots at goal before half-time but could not turn any into goals meaning they went in only 1-0 up.

The town players finally got a two-goal cushion after a goalmouth scramble where Matt Finch slotted home.

Matt then got a second and Daventry’s third after a mazy run where he scored a spectacular finish. Daventry converted another goal not long after from a short corner where Wez slotted his rebounded shot into the goal.

Ollie Dunn scored a long-awaited goal after another short corner from which he pounced on the ball and slid it home making the score 5-0.

Daventry saved the best until last and after a great save by Brandon Frank, on his debut for the first team in goal, Liam Brown blasted the ball into the back of the net giving Daventry a well-deserved 6-0 lead after a move featuring all the players.

Kettering got a late consolation goal as the final whistle blew.

Daventry have won four on the go but are always looking for new players to take them to the next level. Visit or go along to training from 6pm-8pm at Daventry sports park.

All ages and abilities welcome.
