TWO young gymnasts from Daventry Phoenix Gymnastics Club entered into the regional grades 14 and 13.
Aaliyah Forgione, eight, and Beth Corcoran, eight, competed alongside many other gymnasts from all over the East Midlands.
Beth Corcoran competed in grade 14 against 30 others and came an outstanding 8th position overall. She not only passed her grade but also gained a distinction.
Beth was the highest to score on the Bars achieving a score of 13.05 out of 13.50. It was a huge achievement for Beth as it was her first gymnastics competition, and to come so high up and achieve the scores that she did is a very big achievement.
Aaliyah Forgione competed in grade 13 against 30 other gymnasts.
She produced clean routines on all pieces of apparatus demonstrating a mature competition attitude.
Aaliyah not only passed her grade with a distinction but she finished second position overall and received a silver medal.
It was great recognition for all Aaliyah’s hard efforts in her gymnastics training.
Coach Natalie Bannigan was delighted with both the girls’ performances. She said: “I am very proud of how well Aaliyah and Beth competed in this big event.
“They both kept a positive and confident attitude the whole way around the competition and were able to display their polished routines with ease.
“We are all very pleased with the girl’s results and look forward to getting back into the gym, working hard for their next competitions.”
