DAVENTRY Athletic Club’s U17 team began their summer season with a McCain Young Athletes League Midland Division match at Burton on Sunday.
Leading the way was Niklas Aarre who set a new club record of 40.48m in the U17 men’s discus.
The previous record of 40.40m was held by John Plews and had stood since 1985.
Besides winning the discus, Nik also placed second in the high jump and third in the shot.
Also in the U17 men’s age group, Sam Meyler won the long jump with 6.17m and the high jump with 1.60m.
Kieran Russ won the 100m hurdles (14.9) and was placed second in the shot and javelin.
Jake Williams came second in the 1500m and Matt Clarke came third in the discus.
In the U17 women’s age group Sarah Hanby secured a hat-trick of wins in the 300m hurdles, shot and discus while Angelia Cooney won the 800m and was placed second in the 1500m and javelin.
In the U15 boys’ category Nathan Young won the shot and discus, Josh Wilson won the 1500m and was placed second in the shot, Conor Aldridge came second in the 400m (58.3) and third in the 100m and Jack Bond finished second in the high jump and third in the 400m.
In the girls’ section, Louise Hanby had a win treble in the discus (19.66m), javelin (20.52m) and shot.
Georgia Webster won the 75m hurdles (12.5) and placed second in the 200m (27.8) and third in the high jump.
Abbie Barns won the high jump (1.43m) and finished third in the 75m hurdles. Emily Print won the long jump (4.61m), Paige Hobbs won the 800m and came third in the javelin and Maisy Radford came third in the discus.
At U13 level, Joe Stewart won the boys 100m (13.9) and placed second in the 75m hurdles and third in the high jump and Emily Sanderson finished third in the girls 75m and 150m.
