Daventry Ladies continued their push toward the league title with a comfortable 6-1 win against Olney.

An unusually pedestrian display still saw Daventry dominate from start to finish with the result never really in doubt.

Gemma led the way with an excellent hat-trick and was backed up by two great finishes from Julie.

Centre back Mandy completed the scoring, arriving late in to the D to fire home her first of the season.

On the rare occasions that Olney got through on goal, they ran in to player of the match KB, who pulled of a couple of excellent saves.

Daventry now have two games left to secure the title.

Buckby’s poor run of results continues

LONG BUCKBY IIs’ recent run of disappointing results continued as they slumped to a 5-0 defeat at mid-table Leamington IVs.

As the game got underway both teams seemed quite evenly matched until Leamington managed to force their way through to break the deadlock with a goal that should have easily been dealt with by the Buckby defence.

Leamington capitalised on their lead with continuous pressure in the Buckby half leading to two further goals giving the home side a 3-0 lead at the break.

In the second half Buckby maintained a stronger structure and continued with excellent communication and improved passing, but failed to concern the Leamington goal.

Leamington continued to find gaps in the Buckby defence to increase their lead further to secure the win.

Player of the match was awarded to Sarah O’Donovan and Linda Cooper.
