Ladies hit six to seal victory

DAVENTRY Town ladies were rewarded by an early goal from Amy Diment after a well-timed run by Roni Blyth.

Then Roni’s deflected hit was cleaned up by Ang Bartlett taking the side 2-0 up.

Mandy Thompson and Steph Borthwick held a strong central defence with Hannah Mayhew and Rosie Wright feeding the ball back out for an attack from wing players Amy Diment and Hayley Frost.

Zoe Smiley and Gemma Markie worked well together in central midfield and offered vital support.

Daventry’s third goal came from Roni after a charging run down the left wing.

Rothwell answered to this by capitalising on a moment of weakness from Daventry bringing the score at half-time to 3-1.

Keeper Karen Barlow made some fantastic saves.

Daventry went on to score a further three goals. The first from a fantastic solo run by Roni whose powerful shot was deflected into the goal. The second was scored by Amy. Gemma deservingly claimed the last goal after continuing to battle in the middle and slotting the ball nicely behind the goalie.
