FIRST of the days’ play in the Daventry Netball League was DW Ladies versus Duston. This evenly-matched game saw DW emerge winners with a score of 22 to 21.

Next game saw Barclaycard storm ahead against Cummins to control all four quarters of play to take the win 34 to 4. Third on court was Helix versus Ashmore Phoenix.

The current B League champions Ashmore’s accurate shooting and domineering centre court play proved hard for Helix to get control of. Ashmore took a convincing win of 47 to 5.

The final match of the day was Grafton Gate Ladies and Moulton Meerkats. This was a closely-contested game.

A debut for Grafton’s Ellie Harrison made a difference in the shooting circle. Grafton went ahead in the last quarter emerging eventual winners 27 to 20.

The Netball League were very pleased to have nominations in the recent Daventry Sports awards. Natasha Thomas, who plays for Grafton Gate, was up for Junior Sportswoman of the year and came runner-up and the league’s comittee as a collective were nominated for Sports Volunteer of the year and also came runner-up.

Training continues in the Leisure Centre on Tuesday evenings between 7pm and 8pm. All players and beginners are welcome.
