WILLIAM Parker School had an outstanding County Athletics Championships winning no less than 10 county titles – a record for the school.
The day started with Chloe Isom breaking the school record in the Inter girls’ 300m hurdles as she won in a time of 53.1 secs. This was shortly followed by Connor Aldridge who won the Junior boys’ 400m by more than 30 metres in a time of 54.6 secs.
The Junior boys’ victories kept coming as first Robbie Farrell and then Jack Bond won the 200m and 800m respectively. Connor and Robbie then competed in the hurdles and incredibly finished first and second in that order.
The older boys recorded two individual victories. Firstly Lloyd Pay broke the school record when winning the triple jump in 12m 48cm and then Niklas Aarre smashed his own personal best in the discus. Nik threw an incredible 49m 01cm to record the third highest score in the whole country this year.
The Junior girls also put in some stellar performances with Louise Hanby securing victory in the javelin with a throw of 26m 92cm. Louise also placed second in the discus.
The final county champion was Megan Owen who was a double champion claiming both the hurdles and high jump – the latter in a new school record of 1m 50cm.
In addition Rhianna Wilson was second behind Megan in the hurdles and Emma Bond finished second in the 1500m.
All the above are now selected to compete for the county in the Inter Counties match – a truly incredible set of results.
There were also third place finishes for Matthew Clarke in the long jump and Angelia Cooney in the 3000m.
