HOCKEY: In-form Long Buckby ease to promotion

Long Buckby clinched promotion in style as they beat Berkswell & Balsall Common IIs 3-0.

Berkswell made it hard for Buckby, but deadlock was broken when Buckby captain Amanda Becker scored.

The second half saw Buckby start to dominate the game, but that second goal was elusive.

Finally, towards the end of the game Sharron Evans and Holly Harris both hit the target to mame it 3-0.

Long Buckby IIs played their penultimate game of the season and secured a welcome 2-1 win.

But they had to come back from behind to do it after Berkswell took the lead against the run of play.

Buckby didn’t let their heads drop and hit back to equalise through Lucy Boston.

Bucks were 2-1 ahead by the half-time break, Abbie Arnull on target.

In the second half Buckby continued to be the better side, but they couldm’t add to their goal tally.

Player of the match was jointly awarded to Boston and Arnull.

Brilliant Daventry one win from the title

Daventry Ladies looked every inch the County League champions elect with a scintillating performance that left Wildcatz shell-shocked.

Daventry played a brilliant passing game that created chance after chance and Wildcatz simply couldn’t cope with Daventry’s pace and movement, as they raced to a 7-0 win.

The goals when they came were excellent in their creation and clinical in their finishes. There was a double apiece for Ang, Julie and Roni and a single from Alex.

Alison was awarded player of the match. Daventry now go into their last game of the season knowing a win will guarantee the title.
