BUCKBY endured late agony as they suffered a narrow defeat in their first league game of the campaign.

Kay Molloy and Charlotte Dennison worked well together on the left and created a lot of opportunities, and Buckby took the lead when Mary Burton passed to Ellie Sales who tucked the ball behind the keeper.

Buckby had no subs and were up against a very young and fast opposition whose subs rolled on and off as players got tired.

Buckby battled on but conceded the equaliser before half time.

The second half was a tight affair, but Buckby held their own at 1-1 until two minutes from time, when Leamington got their second which was to prove the winner.

Lynn Windatt was awarded player of the match.

Long Buckby Under-13s

Buckby managed to score an impressive 12 goals which were scored by Finley Pernell, Katie Newton, Grace Rowe, Aiden Griffiths and Amy Hoffman, and due to the excellent goalkeeping skills of Connor Robson and the hard work of defenders Aiden Griffiths and Rebecca Edwards, they didn’t concede a single goal.
