DAVENTRY Phoenix Gymnastics Club enjoyed their share of success in the recent European Invitational friendly held at Milton Keynes Gymnastics Club.

Lauren Mounteney, Emily Butcher, April Marks, Lottie Isles, Rhea Hogben, Lara Norman, Chloe Adams, Brodie Street, Oriana Ahmadi and Katie Smith all showed exactly what Daventry Phoenix are made of with 10 medals won by the 10 gymnasts.

This was an impressive result as the gymnasts they competed against were from all over the UK and of a very high standard.

Nine of the gymnasts were entered into the “Moscow” Category where they had to perform routines on five pieces of apparatus in different age groups.

Results were: Eight year olds - Katie Smith: gold on Bars, gold on Trampette, silver on Floor.

Oriana Ahmadi: gold on Beam.

Nine–10 year olds – Lara Norman – silver on Trampette; Brodie Street – silver on Bars; Chloe Adams – silver on Beam.

11–12 year olds – Emily Butcher – silver on Beam; April Marks - gold on Beam.

Lauren Mounteney competed in the hardest category of the day which was “Athens”.

In this competition many girls competed at the top level displaying a very high level of gymnastics.

15+ – Lauren Mounteney – gold on Vault.

The whole day was a great success for the gymnasts, not only winning the medals but competing against other gymnastics clubs in a friendly environment.
