Daventry Golf Club vice-captain Chris Eveleigh won the County Singles Knockout on County Finals Day held at Staverton Park.

He beat Rob Horton of Collingtree Park three and two in a closely-contested match.

Rob Horton got off to a flying start going two up after two but despite having to give his opponent eight shots Chris Eveleigh fought back going two up with three to play.

With the honour on the 202 yard 16th Chris Eveleigh put his tee shot on the green while his opponent found the bunker. Rob Horton played out but left it short, with a long putt for birdie Chris Eveleigh put it to four feet, Rob Horton missed his putt and Chris Eveleigh holed out to take the match.

In the County Matchplay Final played off scratch over 36 holes Ryan Evans from Wellingborough beat Kyson Lloyd also Wellingborough four and two.

The County Foursomes Knockout Final was won by Chris Scott and Robert Scott from Whittlebury Park who beat Pete Butterwick and Steve Bird from Farthingstone two and one.

The County Better Ball Knockout Final was won by Martin Bannister and Mathew Harris from Hellidon Lakes who beat Jim Tricklebank and George Marston from Overstone Park three and one.

The Champion of Champions contested by all of the club champions in the county off scratch stroke play was won by Michael Franklin from Staverton Park with a four under par 67.

Runner-up was Jack Brown from Brampton Heath on 69. Daventry were represented by Paul Read.
