The new Daventry Ladies Netball League season is now underway.
There are 13 teams competing across two leagues.
Half way through the season, two teams from the B League will have the opportunity to go up to the A League to play at higher competitive level, as two teams drop down to the B League and try to win a place for a promotion next season.
A total of 10 teams kicked off the league on September 14, and there were 244 goals.
First up were Grafton Gate Ladies against Delnet.
Grafton led from the start having finished the first quarter at 12-8, and that lead was nine goals by half-time.
Delnet pressed to get back in the game, but Grafton kept their heads and ran out 40-28 winners.
Cummins Ladies then took on Duston Ladies. It was a close game, but by the end of the third quarter, Duston led 18-9, and they went on to win 23-13.
The third game saw Hornets take on G&T’s Black, and it was the Hornets that got off to a flyer, racing into a 10-1 lead.
G&T’s did get themselves together and competed for the rest of the game, but Hornets won it 31-17.
G&T’s Orange played Duston Juniors and this match was close throughout. The match was nip and tuck, but it was Duston that won through 23-19.
The weekend finished with a great battle from the ladies of Ashmore Phoenix and SAS.
There were 25 goals in the first quarter with Ashmore leading 14-11. SAS battled back, and going into the final quarter, the scores were level at 20-20. There was nothing to separate them in the final quarter either, and the match ended 25-25.
For anyone who wish to get back into netball or look to start playing, training is held at the Daventry Leisure Centre on Tuesday evenings 7-8pm.
