Darts semi-finals attract keen competition

THIS week saw the semi-finals of the Charity Cup. The first game saw The Wheatsheaf Braunston host Casey’s.

The home side took the team game with a win for Matt Edgar (100), Tommy Kendall and Dave Jones (140, 100) only for ‘Apple’ (100) and Dave Summerfield to win the doubles game and level the match.

The Wheatsheaf then took all five singles games with wins for Tommy Kendall, Gordon Aldridge (140, 125, 100), ‘Swanny’ (140, 100x2), Dave Jones (180, 140, 100x2) and Matt Edgar (119, 100x2) giving The Wheatsheaf a six games to one success and a place in the final.

Game two saw St James B entertain the Wheatsheaf A Weedon, The Wheatsheaf took the team game with a win for Shaun Gibbs (100x3), Roy Osborne (100x2) and Debbie Farrant (83).

The Wheatsheaf also took the doubles game with a win for Bryan Farmer (180) and Mark Parker (125).

A win for Shaun Gibbs (121) made it 3-0.

St James responded by taking the next three games and levelling the match through Tony Leedham (100x3), Donna Kingston (95x2, 87, 83) and John Geary (125, 105, 100x2).

In the deciding game, a win for Roy Osborne (140, 121, 100x2) sent The Wheatsheaf into the final to meet The Wheatsheaf Braunston.

Performances of the evening went to John Gaul 180, Dave Jones 180 and Bryan Farmer 180.
