THE young men of Northamptonshire Indoor Bowling Association have done the County proud again in the prestigious Inter County Under 25 Double Rink competition.
On Sunday they faced Hertfordshire in the quarter finals, with one rink laying at home at Wellingborough IBC and one rink playing away at Watford IBC, Garston.
And after being a few shots adrift for virtually the whole match they came good at the end with a win by five shots.
After five ends the combined scores saw the County just one shot adrift and after 10 ends they were still very close at two shots behind.
At the three quarter stage the County’s deficit had doubled to four shots, with one rink behind by five and the other ahead by one shot.
With three ends to play by both rinks the County’s deficit was just three shots.
But a terrific fight over those last three ends by both rinks saw the rink skipped by Jamie Walker pick up seven shots without reply and that skipped by the U25 manager Matt Pownall picked up four shots to three against, to cement a marvellous victory.
Final score was Northamptonshire 41 shots – Hertfordshire 36 shots.
