Clean sweep for town sides

DAVENTRY firsts were back in action this week against a Club Diana team struggling for players.

Stewart Williams returned to the side winning 3–0. Nick Murley battled through for a 3–0 victory. At number two was Mitch Bates who out-manoeuvred his opponent and took the match 3–1.

Nick Englert is looking forward to a club championship final on Sunday where he will face his club team mate Jon Groom. Nick went down to a 3–0 defeat but Daventry won the match 15-4. Captain’s Star Man was Mitch Bates.

Daventry second team entertained Cripps second team, and Steve Loydall won 3–2.

Danny Carty succumbed to a 3–1 defeat but captain Andy Machin got proceedings back on track with a convincing 3–0 win.

Steve Wright, despite being 2–0 down, produced stunning squash to take the match 3–2 securing victory for the team. Keith Morgan lost 3–0 but Daventry took the match 13–10. Captain’s Star Man was Steve Wright.

Daventry fourth stringplayed a Saints team in a Division Four top-of-the-table clash.

Ryan Swadling beat his opponent 3–2. Despite going 2–1 , Ryan showed great resilance and composure to come back and win the fifth 10–8.

Captain Gerry O Donnell’s opponent took the match 3–1. Susannah Jordan could not avoid losing 3–1.

Michael Wade won his match 3–0 and Steve Loydall went 2 – 0 up in two tight games.

This continued for the next two but unfortunately he came out on the losing side with the night decided on a fifth game. Steve won 9–5 and 3–2. Daventry won 14–7 to continue their top-of-the-table form. Captain’s Star Men were Steve Loydall and Ryan Swadling.
